Lately fashion blogs have been on my mind.
A couple of weeks ago, my best friend launched a beauty blog (I like hers a lot, anything I say after this doesn't apply to her blog, ok? Ok.)
And also then I got a text from my other BFF venting about a certain semi-famous someone who was on a fashion blog.
And then the two of us texted back and for for a while about how ridiculous it was.

So I wanted to rant about why I think fashion blogs are annoying and ridiculous.
First, WHO REALLY WEARS THAT? These days "fashion" seems to mean loud prints and patterns randomly matched together with a "pop" of color that doesn't match, and maybe a fur hat or scarf. Oh, and thigh high lace up combat boots.
Or it's super fancy heels, with a skirt/dress that is too short (looking at you, Mormon fashion bloggers - how do you pull that off with garments?) with a gawdy necklace and your hair streaked pink. Oh, and the leather leggings.
What is this? How is this cute? Why is this cute?
I don't understand.

Next, WHO PAYS THAT MUCH?
I understand that most fashion bloggers have unlimited funds. Or it sure seems like they do.
"OMG here's my OOTD (outfit of the day, which I only figured out what it stood for like last week) which includes my $500 pair of Jimmy Choos, my $300 dress from Anthropologie, and my $50 pair of leggings from American Apparel.
I hate finding an outfit that I actually like on a fashion blog, clicking on the link to see where it's from/how much it is, and it ends up being approximately half of a month's rent (ON SALE!).
Oh, also, they always take pictures on their $2000 camera, OR they just happen to have a best friend who is a photographer, who takes pictures for them always (and of course we should check him/her out and use them for our photography needs, but who can actually afford a $1000 photo session? Not me.)
And lastly they use SUPER EXPENSIVE makeup and hair products.
Not for me. Thanks, though.
My personal style is casual classy. In the winter I'm in skinny jeans, boots, and a cardigan. In the summer I'm in skinnies or capris, sandals and a pretty basic t. Dressing up I wear flats, and maxi dresses and skirts, or a pencil skirt.
I don't love crazy prints. I don't love logo t's. I like normal colors with the occasional regular pattern.
Sometimes I don't put much effort into an outfit, other times I do. I generally try to be "put together" but sometimes I am tired and don't care. I'm still working on that ;) But I'm a real person. And that's how real people do it.
Sure, I have "splurged" on a few purchases before. I say splurge in quotes, because for most fashion bloggers, it's probably a nickel to them.
I have a nice pea coat from American Eagle that I got a few years ago for like $125 on sale. I'd like to eventually get a pair or two of TOMS. I'd like to invest in a pair of Hunter rainboots. One day I'd like a pair or two of designer jeans - but until then my $10 skinnies from Forever 21 treat me fine.
But I usually shop sales, at my favorite (cheap) stores.

Most of my wardrobe comes from Forever 21, Old Navy, H&M, Target, and Walmart. I hardly ever pay full price for anything, unless it's super cheap already, or I REALLY want it.
I told Sarah that I was going to start a fashion blog that features all my awesome finds from the above stores. "Fashion for Real People" I think she called it.
Of course, let me give birth, loose some weight, and then I'll start it up.

But as a special treat, (mainly because I actually got ready today) here is my OOTD (ha!).
Leggings: Maternity from Ross, $8
Tank: Maternity from Ross, $5
Tank: Maternity from Ross, $5
Cardigan: Groopdealz, $15
Scarf: Claires, $2 (on sale)
And when I go out later I will be wearing taupe colored faux leather riding boots from Target that I got for $10 on sale. Score.
On my face I am wearing:
Garnier BB Cream: $10
Maybelline Colossal Volum'Express: $6
Baby Lips in Peach Kiss: $3
I'm a big spender, guys.
(PS, I am using a Canon Powershot SX 170, which my husband got me for Christmas, on sale and used our Amazon reward points. Sooooo, don't judge me.)
